What You'll Master
Elementary Learning Path
Complete modules in order to build your skills progressively
Hand Independence
Subscribe & LearnIn Beginner level your hands played simple parts together or alternated. Now they each take on distinct musical roles: the right hand carries melody while the left hand plays supporting chords, bass lines, or counter-melodies. Hand independence is the single skill that separates beginners from elementary pianists. Master it and every piece in the repertoire opens to you. This module builds the coordination through 10 progressive lessons.
Chord Fluency
Subscribe & LearnChords are the harmonic language of music. Everything from hymns to pop songs to jazz standards rests on a foundation of chords. This module takes you from basic triads (introduced briefly in E-M1) to complete chord fluency: all seven diatonic triads in any major key, four chord qualities (major, minor, diminished, augmented), seventh chords, chord symbols, common progressions, and reading lead sheets. Complete E-M6 and you will be able to harmonize any melody in a major key — and understand why the chords you see in sheet music are there.
Scales & Arpeggios
Subscribe & LearnMaster major scales in multiple keys with proper fingering, thumb tuck technique, and introduction to arpeggios.
Theory Deepening
Subscribe & LearnIntervals, Circle of Fifths, key signatures, triads, inversions, I-IV-V progressions, transposition, and chord symbols.
Scales & Arpeggios
Subscribe & LearnScales are the alphabet of music. Learn them and every chord, melody, and progression makes sense. This module takes you from the abstract "W-W-H-W-W-W-H" pattern to fluent, two-handed playing of all major scales and their arpeggios. You will master the thumb-under technique, understand why pianists practice scales daily, and apply scale knowledge directly to repertoire. Complete E-M2 and you will read notes in any key without hesitation.
Ear Training Elementary
Subscribe & LearnYour ears are the most important instrument you own. E-M7 develops them systematically. You will build precise interval recognition (all intervals from minor 2nd to octave), solidify the chord-quality hearing started in E-M6, identify chord progressions in context, take basic melodic and rhythmic dictation, and learn to sing what you play (and play what you sing). By the end, you can hear a pop song once and figure out its chord progression, transcribe simple melodies from recordings, and navigate the musical world with a trained ear. This is perhaps the highest-leverage module in the Elementary level — ear training unlocks every other aspect of musicianship.
Repertoire Building
Subscribe & LearnLearn to approach new pieces systematically. Baroque minuets, Classical sonatinas, folk songs, pop classics, and essential notation.
Repertoire Building
Subscribe & LearnKnowing scales and chords means nothing if you cannot play actual music. This module teaches you HOW to learn a new piece from scratch — a systematic methodology that works for every piece, from folk songs to classical sonatas. You will then apply that methodology to real repertoire from four distinct styles: Baroque, Classical, Folk, and Pop. By the end, you own a personal repertoire of at least 5 performance-ready pieces and understand how to keep adding more for life.
Performance Skills
Subscribe & LearnMemorization, self-listening, pedaling, stage presence, expression, duet playing, and Elementary graduation.
Theory Deepening
Subscribe & LearnMusic theory is not a separate subject from piano playing — it IS piano playing, described in words. In this module you learn intervals (the distance between notes), key signatures (the circle of fifths), chord functions (I, IV, V, and friends), cadences (how phrases end), and Roman numeral analysis. Each concept unlocks a new layer of meaning in every piece you play. By the end, you will read a score and understand WHY the composer chose each chord — not just what notes to play.
Performance Skills
Subscribe & LearnKnowing how to play a piece in your practice room and performing it for others are two completely different skills. This module closes that gap. You will learn three distinct memory systems (so a memory slip never derails you), specific techniques for managing performance anxiety, how to record and evaluate yourself, and how to prepare a short recital. By the end, you are not just a piano player — you are a performer.
Sight-Reading Development
Subscribe & LearnSight-reading — playing a piece of music you have never seen before, in real time — is the skill that separates pianists who can only play memorized pieces from pianists who can enjoy any score placed before them. Most amateur pianists never develop this skill because no one taught them HOW. This module teaches the specific techniques used by professional sight-readers: pattern recognition over note-spelling, eyes ahead of fingers, and daily short practice. Complete E-M8 and you will read simple pieces at sight confidently.
Musical Styles Sampler
Subscribe & LearnPiano music spans 400 years and dozens of styles, each with its own sound, technique, and expressive language. This module takes you on a guided tour through five major styles — Classical, Romantic, Folk & World, Ragtime & Jazz, and Film & Popular — teaching you not just to play pieces from each tradition, but to understand WHY they sound the way they do and HOW to make them sound authentic. By the end, you can identify any style by ear and adapt your playing to match.
Composition Basics
Subscribe & LearnEvery piece of music you have played was created by a human being who started with a blank page. This module teaches you to be that person. You will learn to write melodies that make musical sense, harmonize them with chords, add a left hand accompaniment, and structure your ideas into a complete 16-32 bar piece. By the end, you will have composed, performed, and recorded your first original piano composition. The skill of composition transforms you from a music consumer into a music creator.

Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about this level
Do I need a real piano or keyboard to start?
While you can learn theory concepts without one, we strongly recommend having at least a 61-key keyboard. A weighted or semi-weighted keyboard will help you develop proper finger technique from the start.
How much time should I practice each day?
We recommend 15-30 minutes daily for beginners. Consistency matters more than duration. Short, focused daily sessions are far more effective than occasional long practice marathons.
Can I skip levels if I already have experience?
Yes! Take our placement assessment from the Learn page to find the right starting point. The assessment evaluates your reading, rhythm, and playing skills to recommend the best level for you.
What if I get stuck on a lesson?
Each lesson includes practice exercises, a mini piano, and related resources to help you. You can also replay lessons as many times as you need. The interactive quizzes give detailed explanations for each answer.
Are the lessons suitable for children?
Our curriculum is designed for learners aged 12 and up. Younger children may need parental guidance for some theory concepts, but the interactive exercises and games are engaging for all ages.
Will I learn to read sheet music?
Absolutely. Reading music is integrated throughout the curriculum starting from the Beginner level. You will progressively learn to read treble and bass clef, rhythm notation, key signatures, and more.
What styles of music will I learn?
The curriculum covers classical foundations, pop, and introduces jazz concepts at higher levels. You will play real pieces from various genres as you progress through the modules.
